My story

Iím not a professional politician.  I am a long time activist, and I like to get things done.  Iíve watched our country go downhill the past six years and decided that I needed to speak up.

I served as chair of the Sierra Club for New Mexico from 2001 to 2003.  Under my leadership, the Sierra Club sued the owners of the San Juan Generating Station, one of the dirtiest coal powered electric plants in the country.  As a result of our lawsuit, the owners agreed to spend over $200 million on cleaning up the plant.  This agreement has meant a huge difference in the health of the people in northwest New Mexico.  Here's an article I wrote for the Santa Fe New Mexican about New Mexico environmental issues.

I wrote the 2005 New Mexico ďGenetically Engineered Food Labeling ActĒ, Senate Bill 906.  This bill called for all genetically engineered food sold in New Mexico to be labeled.  Here is a flyer from the campaign.

In 2005, I led the Democracy for America effort in Santa Fe to beat back the Bush plan to privatize Social Security.  Here is a flyer that I wrote.  We passed this out at the post offices in Santa Fe on tax day, April 15th.

I co-authored the ďSanta Fe Area Green Building GuidelinesĒ.  Iíve been active in the green building movement in New Mexico for many years, pushing for energy and water conservation in new buildings.

Iím currently involved with a senior cohousing project in Santa Fe called ElderGrace.  This will be the third project of its type in the country.
